Centre for Solutions Journalism -CSJ, a human rights media organisation based in Malawi briefed staff from US based Center for Health and Gender Equity (CHANGE) the impact of Global Gag Rule on the organisation. During the discussion, CSJ executive director Brian Ligomeka bemoaned the negative consequences of the Global Gag Rule on poor rural women and girls. He emphasised: “the Global Gag Rule is not achieving its intention. As a matter of fact, it is sending women in poor countries like Malawi, to their graves early. That’s it. It’s a policy that is killing women; it’s a policy that has been designed to kill women in rural areas. So the earlier that rule is scrapped, or at least reviewed, the better.” The picture shows some staff from CSJ and CHANGE after their discussions. Picture by George Ntonya
