Board Members
Josephine Chinele
Board Chairperson
Josephine Chinele is a multi-award-winning Malawian investigative journalist working for the Platform for Investigative Journalism. She has done numerous prestigious fellowships; notably, she is a two-time Pulitzer reporting grantee and IMF Journalism Fellowship alumna. Josephine also did an internship at the Los Angeles Times in the United States of America under the US Department of State Professional Investigative Journalism Fellowship in 2018. Previously she worked for a number of Malawi's national media outlets, including Blantyre Newspapers Limited. She holds a degree in journalism. As a Board Chairperson, she works with other board members who come from theological, educational, accounting, and human rights backgrounds in providing strategic oversight, governance, and accountability for the Centre for Solutions Journalism.
Prisca Kunsida
Board Member
Prisca Kunsida is a dedicated and passionate advocate committed to reshaping the landscape of social justice. Driven by a profound love for human rights and an unwavering desire for tangible, real-world change, she believes deeply that a just society is not merely an ideal to aspire to, but a practical reality that must be constructed through persistence, empathy, and action. At the core of Prisca’s mission is the intersection of youth empowerment and gender equality. She is a dedicated human rights activist, SRHR advocate, and creative changemaker. She is a holder of Bachelors degree in Social Development and a Diploma in Journalism. With over 10 years of experience in social development, she passionately advocates for human rights and gender equality.
Rev Fr Martin Kalimbe
Board Member
Rev Fr Martin Bob Kalimbe is an Anglican priest who has served in various capacities including being former Executive Director at Theological Education By Extension In Malawi (TEEM) and served as adjunct lecturer in New Testament, Ecclesiology and Biblical Studies at such institutions as Zomba Theological University, Leonard Kamungu Theological College (LKTC), the Catholic University of Malawi He holds a Master of Theology from Virginia Theological Seminary in the USA and a degree in Theology. He is the founding Chair of Religious Leaders for Choice Network in Malawi. Rev. Kalimbe is known for his progressive advocacy for human rights, oftentimes, challenging norms through compassionate leadership and forgiveness. He emphasizes that all people are created in God's image.
Veracious Mphuwa
Board Member
Veracious Mphuwa is a tutor in Business Administration at Central Christian College. He is dedicated to teaching practical business skills and supporting students as they build careers and start small enterprises. Veracious is a passionate advocate for women’s and girls’ education, working to create opportunities, mentor young learners, and promote equal access to quality education. Known for patience, clear communication, and a hands-on approach, he adds value to the Board on his guidance on Project Management, subject he also teaches in college. He holds a degree in Business Administration

Brian Ligomeka
Executive Director
Brian Precious Ligomeka is a dedicated communication and media specialist based in Malawi. With a robust background in the media and project management, he focuses on developing strategic communication frameworks and fostering effective media relations. Brian leverages his expertise to drive impactful messaging and contributes significantly to the professional media landscape in the region. He is an expert in project proposal writing, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. In project management he focuses on transformative human rights projects. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland and a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication. Previously, he worked as a managing editor for Times Group in Malawi, and was also a stringer for BBC Monitoring Unit, News24 (South Africa), and Deutsche Presse Agentur (Germany).
Gloria Joshua
Accounts Officer
Gloria Chimpikizo Joshua is an Accounts Officer specialising in enforcing financial discipline, safeguarding organisational resources, and ensuring that programme delivery is backed by accurate, timely, and transparent financial processes. Her professional experience spans payroll management, tax payment compliance, cash flow management, and financial reporting. In her role as Accounts Officer at the Centre for Solutions Journalism, Gloria oversees financial operations that support project implementation, including budget monitoring, statutory compliance, banking, and system maintenance through platforms such as QuickBooks. She holds a Diploma in Accounting.
Lonjezo Sibweza
Projects Officer
Lonjezo Emmanuel Sibweza is a political science scholar and governance and communications practitioner as well as a systems strategist with strong expertise in social and behavioural change communication, research-informed advocacy, and strategic public engagement. His work sits at the intersection of journalism, public policy, and institutional reform, with a focus on translating complex social challenges into actionable, solutions-oriented narratives. Leveraging his background in conflict and crisis management, leadership, and strategic communication, complemented by hands-on experience in research, resource mobilization, and public speaking, Lonjezo has worked across civil society and private-sector environments, holding managerial roles that strengthened his decision-making capacity and program execution skills. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Malawi.
Penelope Kamanga
Programme Manager
Penelope Paliani Kamanga is a passionate Malawian journalist and media personality dedicated to promoting social justice, gender equality, and human rights. With years of experience in investigative reporting and radio production, she has become a trusted voice on issues affecting marginalized communities, particularly women and youth. Penelope is known for her ability to blend insightful analysis with compelling storytelling, making complex social issues accessible to her audience. As the host of programmes like Equality Talk, she engages listeners in meaningful dialogue, amplifying the stories of those often unheard and advocating for practical solutions to societal challenges. Her work reflects a deep commitment to ethical journalism and community empowerment.
Stella Kamwana
Media Producer
Stella Kamwana is a passionate media producer and photojournalist working with the Centre for Solutions Journalism. Her work entails blending technical expertise from shooting video/television footage to editing the footage using Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve with creative and soft skills, including strong visual storytelling, composition, communication, and organization. Through her role as a media producer, she plans, shoots, edits, and delivers compelling video content that meets the standards of our audiences. She is also behind the production of our radio programmes such as 'Equality Talk,' which is broadcast on MIJ FM, and 'Thupi Langa Moyo Wanga,' which is broadcast on MBC. Through her photography, every picture she captures tells a moving story. She holds a Diploma in Journalism.
